A beautiful look starts with the right care. Today, we discuss the 5 most common mistakes in hair care and how to avoid them. Let's go!
1. Wrong hair products Every hair type has specific needs, and what works for one hair type may not work for another. It is therefore super important to choose products specifically designed for your hair type and for what your hair needs. Are you using the wrong products? Then your hair won't get the nourishment it needs and won't look its best.
2. Washing too often Washing your hair too often is a common mistake. While it can be tempting to wash your hair daily, it can actually be harmful. Removing natural oils can lead to dehydration and damage your hair. Try washing your hair every few days and use a mild, junk-free shampoo and conditioner to prevent your hair from drying out.
3. Hot styling tools Yup, we love our curlers and straighteners... Unfortunately, those hot styling tools can cause serious damage to your hair. High temperatures strip your hair of moisture and leave it looking brittle. If you use styling tools, make sure you use a heat-protective product and opt for lower temperatures. Your hair will thank you.
4. Rough handling of your hair A quick brush, a tight updo, pins, slides and elastics... Our hair has to endure quite a lot. Even though hair is enormously strong, it is and always will be a fragile, living thing. If you pull it beyond its natural stretch you risk damaging or breaking it. Use good brushes, do not comb your hair when wet, do not sleep with wet hair and do not use tight elastics or hairpins too often.
5. Chemical treatments Colouring or highlighting your hair may look great, but it can also cause significant damage. If your hair has to undergo chemical treatment too often, it will eventually lose all shine, stretch and bounce. Do you choose to chemically treat your hair? Then keep it to a minimum and make sure you take good care of your hair between treatments. Go to a professional salon, where you will be properly educated and where they use products that cause the least amount of damage to your hair. |
